My traveling beauty bag

I have a whole separate list of products that I take away with me for nights/weekends away or holidays abroad and there are two reasons for this:

  1. To avoid bringing big, bulky bottles
  2. Ask anyone, I’m very forgetful, so it’s better the bag is already 90% packed.

But, I still like to bring nice products away with me , so I thought I’d share what I have in my travel bag.

Cleanse/Tone/Moisturise

Shisiedo Ibuki Starter Kit – €29

I got this set ages ago and loved how soft all three products made my skin feel, but they run out quickly. I would say the full-sized versions are definitely worth the money if you want to treat yourself – but this mini kit is excellent value in comparison and I like to save it for when I’m away because the bottles are the perfect size and it gives my skin a nice feel when I’m away from my usual products.

Shower gel/Body butter

Soap & Glory Clean On Me & The Righteous Butter (minis) – €7.50

Claire got the Happy Pamper gift set for me for Christmas, which has both the shower gel and body butter minis, and because I saved them for my travel bag, I’m only just running out of them now. I love Soap & Glory products, as they smell amazing and their minis are pretty decent sizes. This set is also great value at €7.50 in Boots.

Shampoo/Conditioner

Color Wow Color Security Shampoo & Conditioner (75ml) – €11.52 each

I got to try these out and I was skeptical about them at first because I don’t colour my hair, but I was advised to try them none the less for their minimal chemicals and for healthy, shiny hair. I must admit my hair was definitely softer from using these, and because I got samples of 75mls, they were perfect to add to my travel bag. You can buy the 75ml bottles from Feel Unique for €11.52 each but they have great bundle deals for around €22 that include an extra product.

Eye cream

Benefit It’s Potent! Eye Cream (mini) – part of set

Benefit do great minis, especially in their Christmas sets, so keep an eye out for them. I had one that included a mini eye cream, and I already had the big pot at home, which lasted ages. You only need a tiny dot of this for each eye, so the mini pot is perfect for taking away with you.

Makeup remover

Benefit They’re Real Remover – €19.50

I find this quite strong, so it might not be suitable for very sensitive skin, but it’s designed to take off the Benefit They’re Real Mascara, which is notoriously tough, so you can be sure it will take off very heavy eye makeup.

Bioderma Sébium H2O – €11.99 (250ml)

I’ve ditched the makeup wipes in favour of micellar water, and I have a big, 500 ml bottle of Bioderma that I keep at home, and I use the smaller bottle when I’m away. While there are mixed opinions on micellar water, Bioderma is the original, and it’s still infinitely better than those dreaded makeup wipes or not taking your makeup off at all. However, don’t replace your cleanser with micellar water, as it’s not enough. I have the Sébium one for my problem skin, but you can buy the pink Sensibio one in Boots for €12.

Extra makeup

Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain (mini) – €6.50

Like I said, Benefit do great minis and you can actually buy this one on its own in Boots for €6.50 – they also have an offer on at the moment of four for €20 on selected minis or three for €30 from the more expensive minis range. This is great if you forget your blush or lipstick and you will use so little that it will last for ages. Take care though, it’s a stain so wash it off your fingers well.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush – €12.99

These little pots are great because they take an eternity to run out, so well worth the money. They’re also multi-tonal in pigment with a lovely soft shimmer, so you get a lovely blush while you’re away. Small, handy and it comes in six shades so you can pick which one is most likely to suit you most of the time.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Élat – €35

Okay, I know this one is pricey for a travel item, but it really is the very last word in life-saving makeup. The main thing I use it for is covering dark circles, especally if the weekend away you’re going to is going to involve late nights and lots of drinks! But it’s good for a whole host of touch ups, concealing and even highlighting. Having this in your beauty bag means you could forget almost anything else and this will help save the day.
